It could be a number of many different things. If you take the car to Advance Auto Parts of Auto Zone, they will scan the onboard computer of your Corolla for free and find out what is going on. Write down the trouble code(s) they find, post them here and we'll see what we can get figured out...

I've never seen or heard of such a thing for a Corolla. The lowrider vehicles are not done with kits, but with custom fabrication and a lot of hard work. There's no one do-it-all kit. Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Well the Haynes manual was and is incorrect, or Toyota wouldn't be using synthetic oil in their cars right from the factory, as do many other vehicle manufacturers all over the world. Going from a 5W-20 to a thick 10W-40 will reduce a lot of noise, yes. Blend oils can have as little as 1%...

Youch. It's designed to run with a catalyctic convertor and can actually not run as well without it, i.e. deliver less fuel economy. Just for informational purposes, (I'm a state licensed Inspector), doing that to a catalyctic convertor is a $4,500 fine, 30 days in jail, or both.

No need to throw away brand new oil. Whom'ever told you that is...well...wrong. The oil in your Corolla's engine is exposed to air all the time and that doesn't destroy it. Besides, oil sitting in an oil jug doesn't get air mixed into the oil. Rest assured, you're fine saving that brand new...
