    1998 - Excessive Engine Oil Burn-Off

The point I was making was that all new Toyota's use synthetic oils because they are so much better for the engine. So again, the guy who advised not using a synthetic oil would seem to have a questionable knowledge base. With a little as 1% synthetic oil in semi-synthetic or blend oils and...

    3ZZFE - Oil Consumption

You can use any oil viscosity you wish, however what is best for the engine may be another matter. :) What year is your Corolla? Some oil consumption is perfectly normal. By design, all engines consume at least some oil.

    2004 Corolla Lifter Noise

Engine noise occurring when cold and then it goes away after it warms up is a classic sign of comparatively poor performing petroleum oils. Don't start tearing anything apart. What brand, type, (petroleum or synthetic), and viscosity oil are you using? You might just need a better performing...

    1998 - Excessive Engine Oil Burn-Off

The guy that told him to stay away from synthetic oil doesn't know what he's talking about. All new Toyota's come right from the factory with synthetic oils.

    Engine Swap

Sure sounds like an oil leak. Get it diagnosed before it catches fire. A 1999 Toyota Corolla is supposed to be using 5W-30. 10W-40 is too thick and can cause increased engine wear, reduced fuel economy, increased emissions and increased engine temperatures.

2009 Corolla S Starts Then Dies

Bonkers - How many miles are on the car? Are you the original owner? Has the fuel filter ever been replaced?

Drafting trucks is very dangerous, can cause an accident and can earn a ticket from a police officer.

    Top RPM Problem

After your car takes off, what altitude does it cruise at? :D:laughing::) Seriously, does this change after the engine is warmed up, or not? If it changes, I'd say your suggestion is valid.

Donabed_Kopolan - I've raced cars before too, for years. I'm not some wet-behind-the-ears kid. I've been in the automotive repair, maintenance and synthetic oil industry for over 30 years with automotive qualifications out the ying-yang. A street car doesn't have to worry about nose-dive...

2009 Corolla S Starts Then Dies

Bonkers - Don't have the fuel pump or fuel filter changed, as that might not be the problem and you'll waste your money. Have them diagnosed. The fuel pump pressure can be checked with a fuel pressure gauge hooked up to the fuel rail. Visually look at the fuel filter and if it looks, dirty...

    Lowering

To reduce roll spring so stiff that they knock your molars out have to be used. That is from the dinosaur age. The modern way to reduce roll is by using bigger/better anti-sway bars.

    Engine Swap

Is the engine running okay? In that two week time frame, how many miles are we talking about? 25 or 2,500? What brand/type and viscosity of oil is being used? If there's no blue smoke coming out the tailpipe, the oil isn't being burned, so it has to be leaking somewhere. There doesn't have...

What Are My Tire Size Options for the 14" 2000 Factory 4-Lug Rims?

The P185/60R-14 size is incorrect and will be undersized. This reduces the safe load carrying capacity needed for the tires. At best this means the tires will wear out prematurely, costing you more money than using the correct tire size for the car. At worst, the tires could blow out, ruining...
