Doing the posted speed limit on a 300+ mile trip (anywhere from 55-70mph), I was able to get 40mpg with my S+ CVT with an Injen CAI. There was no other trickery going on...didn't shut the car off or shift into neutral...just drove with cruise control.
46.0 mpg average over 162.7 miles on the highway according the the computer. CVT trans...obeying the posted speed limit which was 55-70 spending on construction.
No trickery either...no turning the car off and all that. Just cruise and the speed limit and probably an extra. 100lbs in the trunk.

As far as resale, we are talking about 3 small issues. Most people probably wouldn't even notice. I also don't see myself getting rid of the car. It will probably be around for a long time after it's paid off.
